Big and beautiful have been apt ways to describe the Mi Max and Mi Max 2, but with the new Mi Max 3 that huge 6.44in screen is about to go even bigger still – Xiaomi is rumoured to be including a 6.99in display on its latest Android phablet.

Fear not, the Mi Max 3 will not be more cumbersome as a result. Using the trendy new 18:9 aspect ratio it will be tall rather than wide, probably with slimmer bezels too.

When is the Mi Max 3 coming out?

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed on Weibo that the Mi Max 3 will launch in July. The exact date is not yet known, but we will update this article when it is known.

How much will the Mi Max 3 cost?

Expect the Mi Max 3 pricing to be in line with the Mi Max 2, which has an RRP of 1699 RMB for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage model and 1999 RMB for the 4GB RAM, 128GB storage model.

Converted those prices are roughly £200/US$265 and £235/$315 respectively, though you will pay a little more shipping it to the UK from the likes of GearBest and should remember to factor in import duty to the UK (20 percent of the value on the shipping paperwork).

What are the Mi Max 3 rumoured specifications?

With a larger 6.99in Full-HD+ 18:9 IPS display the Mi Max 3 could also feature a higher-capacity battery, and it’s rumoured to be bumped from 5,300mAh to 5,500mAh. The new phone is also expected to support Quick Charge 3.0 and Qi wireless charging.

Also new to the Mi Max 3 is expected to be either the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 chipset, plus a dual-camera at the rear (potentially the Sony IMX363 or Samsung S5K217 and S5K5E8 duo). At the front the 5Mp selfie camera will also serve as an iris scanner.

As a Xiaomi phone you should also expect dual-SIM dual-standby as standard, and the MIUI 9 UI on top of Android Oreo.
