Bethesda has confirmed that the newly-announced Rage 2 will not include loot boxes, but will have post-launch content to keep players engaged.

Rage 2 was leaked by Walmart last week, ahead of the official reveal on Monday. In an interview with German website Gamestar (translated and confirmed by US Gamer), Id boss Tim Willits has confirmed that the studio is following a games-as-service approach to keep people playing Rage 2 for longer.

However, the title will not feature loot boxes, commenting sarcastically that it has a novel approach where players can buy the game and play it.

Rage 2 is being developed by Id Software and Avalanche Studios and is a sequel to 2011’s post-apocalyptic FPS Rage. We gave the original an 8.5/10 in our review, calling it “an expertly crafted, beautiful shooter.”

The game will be set in an open world and you can expect lots of vehicle gameplay. You can find out everything we know about the upcoming title right here.

Rage 2 is set for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Spring 2019.
