Call of Duty WW2 St. Patrick’s event – UPDATE 1:
Activision and Sledgehammer Games have announced the new in-game event for Call of Duty: WWII: Operation Shamrock and Awe.
The event is due to run from March 13 through April 3.
It’s live in-game now with the latest patch update, which you can read more about here.
The new event features all new St. Patrick’s themed gear, weapons, and new featured modes.
One new mode is Leprechaun Hunt Moshpit, where you’ll find a fleet-footed zombie leprechaun hidden in each map with prizes for taking it down.
Also, Headquarters receives a new update. You’ll note the area has been fully decorated for the Irish-themed event.
Sledgehammer Games has also added in a new map in the form of Shipment. Fans of the series will note it’s a returning map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Shipment 1944 is available for Season Pass holders right now, and everyone else will have access to the map starting March 16.
The update size is listed at 3.5GB on PS4.
Call of Duty WW2 is getting a BRAND NEW St Patrick’s Day event and it’s going to be announced later today
Yesterday the official Call of Duty WW2 social channels shared a GIF across its various channels showcasing Captain Butcher, the special Quartermaster who only turns up for in-game events, decorated with St. Patrick’s Day colours and items.
You can see that tweet here and just below. But in short the message attached with the tweet read: “Good luck is hard to come by, soldier. Brace yourself for what’s to come. [Shamrock emoji]”
Last year Infinity Warfare didn’t hold a St Patrick’s Day event, but the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered release did.
The seasonal event, dubbed Operation: Shamrock & Awe ran until the end of April and it looks like it’s making a comeback this year as revealed in the latest community update from developers Sledgehammer Games.
“We are also excited about Operation: Shamrock & Awe that kicks off tomorrow! Be on the lookout for a trailer dropping tomorrow that will show some of the content we’ve been working on the last couple months,” the blog post from the team read.
Quite what Sledgehammer can be planning isn’t known, but we imagine at a minimum there will be
For a bit of context last year the Operation: Shamrock & Awe event gave players a chance to earn “St. Patrick’s Day-themed in-game rewards” and we suspect it will be pretty similar this year too.
Operation: Shamrock & Awe also introduced a handful of new features to Modern Warfare Remastered such as an updated map, free weekly Supply Drops, a chance to receive two free camos, and more.
The ‘new’ map was technically a reworked version of the well-known Downpour map. However, rather than being set in a battle-worn town, the map, renamed Daybreak, featured lush, green colours and was decorated with “St. Paddy’s décor and a rainbow, naturally.”
While it’s unlikely to be EXACTLY the same as last year, we imagine the above gives a good idea of the sort of new features that could be coming later today for the new seasonal event.
If that wasn’t enough we also have the BIG new update for Call of Duty: WW2 due to drop today as well.
Earlier in the week Sledgehammer Games dropped some notes on the Weekly Community Update, talking about all the changes that are coming to the title as part of Tuesday’s patch.
You can read all that below:
Gun Game and Prop Hunt. They’re here to stay, and next week we’ll have them available on the new DLC maps! Plus, we heard your feedback and added a Party Games playlist tab, so you can find these two playlists there.
GameUpdate. We are pushing out a game update on Tuesday and it is STACKED with changes, fixes, and new items. Keep an eye out for patch notes.
CWL Atlanta. Make sure to tune in throughout the weekend to watch over 200 teams battle for the Championship and $200,000 prize. Link to stream: https://www.twitch.tv/callofduty
HC Ricochet. ICYMI, today we added a separate playlist for this rule. Some of you have voiced concerns about splitting up the hardcore community. We totally understand this concern and want to let you know that the intention of the separate HC playlists is to give everyone a chance to play both, help us to gather data, and feedback so that we can determine which rule to adopt. Play this weekend and we’ll put up a poll on our Twitter account on Monday so everyone can vote.
Concept Art Giveaway. Today at 1PM PT, we’ll be hosting a contest on r/CODZombies to give away a signed print of Nazi Zombies concept art. Don’t miss out!
Also, we couldn’t be happier for our friends over at Treyarch and can’t wait to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 later this year. That was one badass logo reveal. The hype is real.
Finally, a listing for Call of Duty: WWII “Shipment 1944” has appeared on the PlayStation Store.
It’s unclear what this update is, but it seems likely it could be the next DLC entry for the game.
All we’ve seen so far is a logo of the Shipment 1944 name printed on what seems to be a wooden crate.
We expect to hear more soon. So keep your eyes peeled!
